DANG! Facebook pastor duped sales girl of N4 million

A 32-year-old cleric has been nabbed by police detectives in Enugu for allegedly duping a 25-year-old lady, Ojiaku Chiamaka of N4 million.

The Pastor, Abel Benard Aniude of Trimphant Kings Assembly, Enugu, was said to have wooed Chiamaka on Facebook in December 2013 and promised her marriage, swindling the lady over N4 million in the process.

According to reports by Saturday Sun, the suspect and his younger brother, Tobias Aniude serving a jail term in Enugu prison, were apparently notorious for using Facebook woo desperate single women into marriage, eventually duping them.

General Overseer of Omega Fire Ministry, Apostle Johnson Suleman, who had earlier prophesied that many politicians who lost in the last election would win, has now explained why some of his prophecies didn’t come to pass.

In a chat with the Punch Newspaper, he revealed that some politicians contacted him to reverse the prophecies. He urged Nigerians not to accuse him of being a fake prophet on the strength of this.

“Let me tell you something about prophecies, they have leverages and you cannot judge prophecy except you have the spirit of prophecy. See what a protective Dad prints on t-shirt for his daughter to scare the boys away

A protective dad has devised a creative way to keep the boys away from his young daughter - by printing his muscly torso on a t-shirt and making her wear it.

'Stay Clear Boys,' a message on the shirt warns. 'This is my dad!'

And while his daughter doesn't look too happy about the new attire, her father is pictured grinning beside her.

The image was first shared on Reddit under the headline 'Dad security' at the weekend.

The UK Home Office has been ordered to bring five-year-old Rafeeq Atanda and his mum back to the UK after they were deported to Nigeria earlier this year.

Woman bags 266 years jail term over N8mill Scam

A female staff of a popular eatery, Oluremi Olayinka was today convicted and sentenced to 266 years imprisonment by Justice A.A Akinyemi of Ogun State High Court, Abeokuta, for stealing N8million belonging to her employer. The offence is contrary to sections 390(6)(7)(8), 467 and 468 respectively of the Criminal Code Law Cap 29, Laws of Ogun State.

Breaking! Jonathan sacks Police IG, Suleiman Abba; appoints replacement

President Goodluck Jonathan has sacked Inspector General of Police, Suleiman Abba.

The sack was announced by the president’s spokesperson, Reuben Abati, in a statement on Tuesday.

No reason was given for the sack. A Deputy Inspector General of police, Solomon Arase, was appointed to act in his stead.

A group in Delta state has implored President Goodluck Jonathan to grant presidential pardon to the former governor of the state, James Ibori, before leaving office on May 29.

On Sunday, the Ijaw People’s Development Initiative, IPDI, insisted that Ibori should be freed as he had suffered enough. The group stated that several of his colleagues who also pilfered government money still have their freedom, while Ibori is behind. In an interactive session with newsmen, National President the group, Austin Ozobo, said: “Chief Ibori has suffered enough and there is no justification for not granting him clemency, as had been done to others.”

Lost Egyptian City found After 1,200 Years Under Sea

It is a city shrouded in myth, swallowed by the Mediterranean Sea and buried in sand and mud for more than 1,200 years. But now archeologists are unearthing the mysteries of Heracleion, uncovering amazingly well-preserved artifacts that tell the story of a vibrant classical-era port.

Known as Heracleion to the ancient Greeks and Thonis to the ancient Eygptians, the city was rediscovered in 2000 by French underwater archaeologist Dr. Franck Goddio and a team from the European Institute for Underwater Acheology (IEASM) after a four-year geophysical survey. The ruins of the lost city were found 30 feet under the surface of the Mediterranean Sea in Aboukir Bay, near Alexandria. See some of the Artifacts found after the cut...

The presidency stated this in an official reaction to a story published on the front page of Punch Newspapers and other online newspapers that Mr. Jonathan was concerned about how campaign funds were spent without the desired victory in the polls and has called for a probe.

In stating the president’s stance, his spokesperson, Reuben Abati, told journalists in Abuja that “The President has not set up any committee as alleged in that story. It is also not true that the Presidency and the Peoples Democratic Party used state funds, or spent N2 trillion during the campaigns.”

The Federal Government has said it evacuate Nigerians from South Africa if the xenophobic attacks there get worse.

Addressing State House journalists yesterday on the recent reports of attacks on foreigners in South Africa, Foreign Affairs Minister Aminu Wali said it is Nigeria's duty to bring her citizens back should the attacks get worse and taking such a duty serious.

Wali said Nigeria would not allow any of her nationals to be subjected to such an "inhuman treatment."

He, however, noted that his discussions with the Nigeria's Head of Mission in Pretoria had indicated that no Nigerian in South Africa had so far been affected.

"They informed me that they've called the Nigerian community and addressed them and told them to close their shops, stay home, keep out of trouble and obey the laws of South Africa," he said.

Following the defeat suffered by President Goodluck Jonathan and his party, the Peoples Democratic Party, during the March 28 and April 11 elections, the President has asked the party and government officials, who handled campaign funds, to refund unspent monies, or those not judiciously expended.

According to Punch, Jonathan credible sources said, has also set up a committee of five to get those with the funds to return them. APC zones Senate Presidency to North-central, North-east to produce Speaker

The national leaders and national caucus of the All Progressives Congress (APC) have officially zoned the office of the Senate President in the 8th Senate to the North central geo-political zone, while the Speaker of the House of Representatives was zoned to the North-east geo-political zone after a meeting in Abuja Thursday night.

A source at the APC meeting which lasted till the wee-hours of Friday said that the party leaders accepted in principle a prototype office sharing formula that would accommodate all vested interests within the party.

From all indications that the All Progressives Congress is uncomfortable with the May 28 handover date proposed by the out-going administration.

Investigation carried out by Saturday PUNCH revealed that the outgoing President Goodluck Jonathan and the President-elect, Gen. Muhammadu Buhari (retd.) are set to clash over a proposal by the Jonathan team to hand over the mantle of leadership to Buhari on May the 28th, instead of the 29th.

A two-year-old girl who died from a brain tumour has been frozen - in the hope she will one day be revived by advances in science. Matheryn Naovaratpong, from Thailand, is thought to be the youngest person ever cryogenically preserved.

The toddler was diagnosed with an aggressive form of cancer last April after she failed to wake up one morning, Motherboard's Brian Merchant reports. After being admitted to a Bangkok hospital, tests revealed she had a 11cm tumour in the left side of her brain. Doctors diagnosed her with ependymoblastoma, a rare form of brain cancer that afflicts the very young.

Italian police arrested 15 Muslim migrants who survivors said tossed 12 Christians from a boat during a recent Mediterranean crossing attempt. In a separate incident, 41 migrants were feared drowned as the situation in the region intensifies.

The Muslim migrants involved in the clash with Christians were arrested in the Sicilian city of Palmero and charged with "multiple aggravated murder motivated by religious hate," police said in a statement Thursday, according to the BBC. The victims were from Nigeria and Ghana. The suspects were from Ivory Coast, Mali and Senegal.
