NAFDAC Boss, Paul Orhii arrested by EFCC over unauthorized spending

The Director General of the National Agency for Food and Drug Administration and Control (NAFDAC), Mr. Paul Orhii, was yesterday grilled by operatives of ‎the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) over alleged spending of billions of naira the agencies generated without approval from relevant agencies.

The embattled NAFDAC boss is being interrogated for alleged contract scam and abuse of office. Although the spokesman of the EFCC, Mr Wilson Uwujaren, could not be reached on phone to give more details into the circumstances that led to his interrogation, a competent source told Daily Sun that his invitation is the first in the series of many more to come.

The source said some directors who have been fingered in the ignoble deals and spending of unauthorized funds might soon be invited by the EFCC to explain their roles.

The Director General in recent times held a series of media conferences and placed advertorials in major national newspapers to explain how monies were spent by the agency.

Report has it that he arrived at the Abuja headquarters of the EFCC at about 9am Sunday and was questioned for several hours.

As at the time of  this report, it could not establish or confirm if Mr. Orhii had been released on administrative bail by the anti-graft agency. ‎Again, Uwujaren could not be reached for confirmation.
