First Lady, Patience Jonathan, has enjoined Nigerians to not vote for
the presidential candidate of the All Progressives Congress, Maj. Gen.
Muhammadu Buhari (retd.), because of his old age.
While speaking in Lokoja, Kogi, at the Peoples Democratic Party’s
women campaign rally on Tuesday, March 3, Mrs Jonathan stated that when
people age, their thinking and reasoning faculty may not function
properly.
She said, “Vote for my husband, Jonathan. Do not vote for Buhari. He
is an old man. People when they become old may not reason well and their
brain may even be dead.
“Wetin him dey find again? Him dey drag with him pikin mate,” she
said in pidgin English. “Old man wey no get brain, him brain don die
pata pata.”
The wife of the president also warned women against voting for Buhari
saying that he would put women in purdah and abuse their rights.
She added that women deserved to be given due recognition and
opportunities, adding that the administration of her husband had done so
by actualising their dreams and helping showcase their potential.
“This administration identified and reckoned with women. Women were
empowered; they were given opportunities to serve the nation and they
performed creditably well to the admiration of the people,” she said.
