Gunmen abduct Winners pastor during prayer session on sunday

According to Vanguard reports,  A Living Faith Church Pastor was kidnapped while he was having a prayer session in preparation for Sunday service when five gunmen stormed the church premises, shooting loudly into the air. He was however thrown into the car and they zoomed off with the pastor at about 7:50pm.

The kidnapped pastor Seyi is the head pastor of Province Two of the Church situated along IBB Way, opposite the Margaret Ekpo International Airport. Major construction works have been ongoing in the church since 2014 that the pastor joined the branch of the church.

An anonymous member of the church talked about the incident saying:
“Normally on Saturdays, we have a number of activities but the pastors prayer session comes last, it was while the session was in progress that the boys came in, shot into the air and took our pastor away”.

‘He came here in 2014 and has been doing a lot work through the construction of a massive complex for the church auditorium and office accommodation which might have given the kidnappers the impression that he has money to give them as ransom”.
The church had its normal service today with pastor Seyi’s assistant in charge but not without the heavy presence of the Nigerian police force all around the church’s presence premises.
“There was no policeman on duty here yesterday when the incident happened but this morning we had to request for some policemen from the Airport Police Station close by and these six policemen you see here were deployed to forestall any recurrence of what took place last night”
Mr Hogan Bassey, the spokesman of the Cross River State Police Command says the kidnappers are yet to make any demands “but we are closing on them and very soon I shall inform you on how far we have gone” he said
Kidnapping has become a major trend in Nigeria. Just few days ago, gunmen kidnapped an oil worker in Abia State.
