Suspected Fulani Herdsmen Kill 7 in Agatu Community in Benue

The Agatu community in Benue state has been thrown into chaos as herdsmen storm the town wrecking untold damage.

No fewer than seven persons have been feared killed in renewed hostilities between Fulani herdsmen and Agatu farmers in Benue last Sunday.

According to Daily Sun sources revealed that the herders invaded some communities in the riverine Agatu area at about 10am that Sunday and continued fighting until late into the night.

Running mate to the PDP gubernatorial candidate in the state, Hon. John Ngbede, a native of Agatu said that there was heavy fighting in the area which led to the death of seven people while several houses and farmlands were destroyed.

But when contacted, Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO) in the state, Moses Yamu, an ASP said he was yet to be briefed on the matter.

Efforts to also speak with the Zonal Coordinator of the Miyetti Allah Cattle Abreeders Association of Nigeria (MACBAN) Garus Gololo failed as several calls made to his GSM line was neither answered nor returned.
