Gov. Wike Orders Payment of 3 Months’ Salary Arrears to Pensioners in Rivers State

Rivers State Governor,  Nyesom Wike,  has directed the accountant general of the state to pay pensioners their three months’ arrears of salaries owed them by the past administration.

The governor, who gave the directive on Thursday, said it was callous and insensitive to owe pensioners who had served the state creditably.

A statement issued by the Special Adviser, Media and Publicity, to Wike, Sir Opunabo Inko-Taria,  on Sunday noted that pensioners in the state were owed for months by Amaechi.

"Not even the strike they embarked on to get Amaechi to pay them worked. Some of them even died in penury out of frustration," he said.
