President Muhammadu Buhari has terminated the appointment of his Chief Security Officer, Abdulrahman Mani.
Mani was fired on Saturday, July 4, due to a supremacy battle he had
with the Aide-de-Camp to the President, Lt.-Col. Lawal Abubakar.
The ADC, had a couple of weeks ago, issued a memo redeploying
officials of the Department of State Security from their beats inside
the Presidential Villa, as part of efforts to enhance general security
within the villa.
But Mani would counter his directive by issuing a rejoinder dated
June 26, where he directed the DSS officials to disregard the ADC’s
order. After a bit of back and forth, the Aide-de-Camp to the President
would have his way and the DSS officials were eventually redeployed.
The termination of Mani was reportedly carried out on the President’s
order by acting Director-General of the Department of State Service,
Lawan Daura. Mani who was redeployed to Ebonyi State has been replaced with Bashir Abubakar as the new Chief Security Officer.
