JSS 3 student, 3 others arrested for robbery, cultism in Benin


The Edo State Police Command has paraded two teenagers, Osayame Osamede (15) and Junior Godbless (I5), who were arrested for alleged armed robbery and cultism by the operatives of the command.

The teenagers were arrested alongside two others for alleged robbery while armed with firearms.
Our reporter gathered that three members of the gang, including one of the teenagers, were arrested during the robbery operation.
Osamede, who is a JSS 3 student of a Secondary School in Benin, was however, picked up at his father’s house by police operatives, following confession by other members of the gang that he and his elder brother who is now at large, procured the locally cut-to-size gun with which they robbed their victims during the festive period.
Junior Godbless on his part confessed his involvement in the crime, saying that he was arrested with two other members of the gang during his second robbery operation.

The four-man robbery gang was among 85 suspects, ranging from kidnappers, armed robbers, murderers, cultists and impersonators paraded at the command headquarters in Benin.
Meanwhile, the state Police Commissioner,  Haliru Gwandu, has urged parents to always monitor activities and movements of their children with a view to preventing them from engaging in criminal activities.
